The Rest After the Round

The Rest After the Round

Colossians 2:16-17

“Therefore, don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is Christ.

Thoughts:

The Sabbath was God’s gift of rest—a weekly reminder that His people didn’t have to work endlessly to prove themselves. But it was only a shadow. It pointed to the deeper rest Christ gives.

Christ is the true Sabbath.

He is rest from guilt.

He is rest from striving.

He is rest from trying to earn God’s approval.

The Sabbath was the shadow. Christ is the true rest.

After a long, exhausting round—sun beating down, legs tired, hands sore—you drop your bag, sit down, and breathe deep. That rest feels better than the round itself.

That’s what Christ offers.

Not just a break—peace.

Not just a pause—completion.

Reflection #1

Where am I still “playing the round” when Christ has already finished it for me?

Reflection #2

What would it look like to truly rest in Christ this week?

Meditate on these things as we throw to the glory of God.

Prayer

Holy Father, thank you that we can truly rest in You. Help us to see the times we are trying to live life and do things in our strength instead of trusting You.

In Your name we pray,

Amen
