The Tournament was Pointing to a Champion

Colossians 2:16-17 

“Therefore, don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is Christ.” 

Thoughts   

Israel’s festivals were full of joy, sacrifice, and celebration—but they were never the final celebration. They were shadows pointing to Christ, the true Champion. 

Passover pointed to His sacrifice. 

Firstfruits pointed to His resurrection. 

The Day of Atonement pointed to His cleansing. 

Jubilee pointed to His freedom. 

Every festival was a preview of the victory Jesus would win. 

A big disc golf tournament builds anticipation—the crowds, the pressure, the leaderboard. But the tournament exists to reveal the champion. The hype is real, but it’s not the point. The champion is. 

The festivals were the tournament. 

Christ is the Champion.

Do I celebrate Christ’s victory as an everyday reality or only in “festival moments”?

What would change if I lived like His victory is already mine? 

Think about these things as we throw to the glory of God. 

Prayer 

Thank you, Father, for Christ, who is the champion and has paid the price to secure the victory for us. May we live as victorious people and not as if we have been defeated. 

In Your name we pray.,
